I first noticed the Morlaix staircase in a previous location in what was the museum shop. In its current location it has more space and is displayed alongside other architectural fragments but its function as a staircase is still absent. I like the varied textures of the wood, the way it looks used and worn but cannot be touched or climbed. The staircase can be seen as a symbol of what can and cannot be collected.
