At the V&A I saw the trembler broaches in gold & stones. I was so inspired by the shape, movement & decoration. I wanted to make a modern equivalent of a trembler because I have not seen any. Also, I wanted to create some movement in the piece, be decorative and as a special pressie for my sister. To make the trembler pressie, I started jewellery class at city lit, a beginner on Monday evenings. It has been a great pleasure working with silver on the individual pieces to create the whole, working out the shape for the flowers, how to get them to move. Fixing the flowers to the back and then adding a decorative vase at the front, finishing with turned in corners to give softness. I designed the piece to be worn either as a necklace or broach. When I started my piece my tutor suggested I enter the inspired by... competition. When I visit the V&A the jewellery is the first place I go to, although different things are displayed I always hope there are tremblers. I think the tremblers are amazing, complex in construction & look beautiful, another reason for choosing a trembler as a special piece of jewellery as a pressie for my sister.
